pics i found and never posted about.

here it is. many a pic that i never got to comment on. first, the finger drums. if i had these, nothing would get done at work. well, more of nothing. To the right, Mike McCready of Pearl Jam. maybe i posted this. Still a great shot of a great guitar player.

Okay. Yes, the Spice Girls are back. How much happier could i be. I just don't know. Below this is the bell of a Pedler and Sons trumpet. Pedler is Elizabeth's maiden name. I have always found this interesting. this must be her Great, great great grandfather. eventually they sold out to Conn.

Next is a drummer Brian Blade. Love what this guy does on as little as he uses. Check the size of the kick drum. 15" dia. by 12" deep. that is TINY. Far right is the same cymbal that i have out from Doug's on trial. after playing on it, it is great for Jazz. it has 2 rivets. MOVING ON!

Next are 3 great shots. One is the racing version of an Aston Martin. this is what i will buy when Rob wins the lottery and Jeff is a Floor Boss at the Bellagio in Vegas. Thanks again guy's. the Far pic is a painting i found on Flickr of John Bonham, the drummer for Led Zeppelin. The next is the crazy odd creation of Paris Hilton and her dog. I don't get it but hey, this was a big attraction, so it must be "art".

Well i think that is all that i have to show for now. Other updates, E and I were invited by another couple to join at the grand opening at Ruth's Chris Steak House that opening in Mishawaka. It was great. Let me say this one thing. 4 people, $358 with tip. thank you Dexter Corp. Not a penny out of my pocket. That is living. We had a great time and i think that it would have been just as fun if we went to Taco Bell. Man i love Taco Bell.
Peace, I'm outta here!!!!!

Maxwell Lemuel Roach 1924-2007

As big into my jazz kick that i have been, the guy that i have always liked the best has been Max Roach. i have no idea what it is about him that i like better than others, but with out question, since i was in high school and being forced to listen to this crap called "jazz" by Jeff when all i wanted to listen to was Led Zeppelin, Max has been my man. well on the odd happening that i was reading the Elkhart Truth (i never read the paper) the section that i happened to pick up was whatever happened to have the obituaries. i see this little article that said the Max had passed away. seems like i went years and nobody i really knew died and all of a sudden, this year people are dying all the time. it is really NOT cool. well i don't really have to much more to say than that right now.

Pearl Jam - Live at the Gorge (7 discs)
Mother Love Bone - Apple (what started PJ)

Also very excited about the Foo Fighters album coming out and the Pearl Jam DVD coming out.
I also would like to get my hands on Branford doing A Love Supreme on DVD. From what i have hunted down on YouTube it is amazing.

okay. that was dumb. gotta bounce.

You lookin' at me?!?!?!!

hey all. it's been a while. can't say that i have a lot to report. Elizabeth got Netflix subscription for her birthday from her mother. the newest movie that we got was "Ray" which i wanted to see, but don't really care for Jamie Foxx. i have not finished, but man this has been great so far. i must admit that Mr. Foxx is a great choice. he really pulls it off well. so far all the acting in the movie is really quite good. you dont' realize all the songs that he did or wrote. with all this jazz that i have been listening to this movie is really hitting the spot. i have been working on a setlist and have been tweaking my drumset for practice, although i have yet to be able to get down stairs TO practice. thinking about taking my second kit and sticking it out in the garage for some after hours practicing. i will have to do some rearranging in the garage i think to fit a kit out there with a car. we'll see. well, thats all i got for now. later all.

band developments

Hello all. long time since i have written. it has been a wild and crazy ride at work and that has stopped me from blogging lately. things seems to have been all forgotten so lets get back on track, shall we? well on Saturday morning, i had practice with Brian and the new guy who is doing very little for me anymore. i had told Brian the day before that i was loosing intrest so i thought that this was going to be my last practice. he was feeling the same way so we decided to get together one more time to findout if Vince could sell it to us one more time. Saturday we got together, and he didn't. in fact, it was worthless. that night Brian was going to call him and tell him that it is all over. i told brian that i had e-mailed Jason Sappen, who is the main man in Blammo and has his own side band, the Jason Sapen Band, who has a drummer, but he is in P.S. Dump Your Boyfriend so he is not available on weekends, which JSB doesn't do to many of, but that is what i am looking for. i have been in 2 professional practicing bands and i can't really afford the time or reasoning to be in another one. so i had e-mailed him to see if he was looking anymore to find a weekend drummer. nice things is that they are already established and i have played with all these guys from sitting in or opening through other bands (makes me sound really experienced doesn't it) so i got that goign for me, which is nice. well that e-mail went out about a week ago and i never heard anything. i wasn't going to say anything to Brian but ended up doing so. well he spent all weekend with the Blammo guys and brought it up to Jason. Brian texted me the other night saying that he told Sapen, and that he sounded pretty interested, so we will have to see if anything becomes of that. i almost doubt it. now, on to band 2. talkeing with Brian, he really wants to do something. I really want to do something. Jeff wants to do something so i am in the prosess of getting a Jazz trio figured out. it would be hard to sell us, but i think that there are about 4 places that we can get into. nice things, no vocals. intreamental only. Jeff and I went to see Brandford Marsalis and that was a great experience for me. that is how i want to do a jazz trio (he was a quartet but still) kind of a eye opening moment to see how easy you can go and sound like a million bucks. so who knows. it's all in development. check in later to hear more about the polka band i am brainstorming on. been doinga lot of research on Jazz drumsticks and ride cymbals. may have to go shopping at Dougie's to try somethings out. God love that man.
